In the celebration of Mass the faithful form a holy people, a people whom God has made his own, a royal priesthood, so that they may give thanks to God and offer the spotless Victim not only through the hands of the priest but also together with him, and so that they may learn to offer themselves. They should, moreover, endeavor to make this clear by their deep religious sense and their charity toward brothers and sisters who participate with them in the same celebration.
~ General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) 95

LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

LECTORS:
The lector is instituted to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. And, in the absence of a psalmist, proclaim the Psalm between the readings (GIRM 99).

CHOIR:
Among the faithful, the choir exercises a very important liturgical function. The choir facilitates the active participation of the faithful in singing hymns and chants during the celebration of the Mass (GIRM 103).

He who sings, prays twice.
~St. Agustine of Hippo

Come let us sing joyfully to the Lord!
~Psalm 95:1

LITURGICAL ENVIRONMENT:
These ministers help plan and create a beautiful and prayerful atmosphere around the church according to the liturgical seasons. Thanks to the creative talents of these ministers, the faithful are able to worship God in an atmosphere that reflects his beauty. These dedicated stewards often work unnoticed but the fruit of their labor is remarkably visible and highly appreciated.
